Legacy Family Center is making an Impact

Legacy Family Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our goal is to address unmet social, emotional, and educational needs of children and their families with emphasis on developing the capacity
of the family through partnerships and collaborations in the community.

The mission of Legacy Family Center is to serve as a catalyst for families to affect their own change by providing education and social services within the communities in which they reside.

Victoria Karpeh

President

Career Focus

Victoria has worked in social services for her entire professional career. Her passion has focused on helping families facilitate a connection between themselves and their communities. As an immigrant from Liberia who came to the United States at an early age, she knows how challenging it can be for families to navigate new cultures. It is her belief that "a family can only reach its full potential when the whole unit is understood as an asset in the community".

Motivation to work on Legacy Family Center's Board

"Legacy Family Center was formed to intentionally cultivate and hone the assets within the family, making sure that everyone in the family and the community benefits from the wealth of resources in the family. Legacy Family Center is dedicated to the family, community and staff by being accountable, open and intentional."

Veronique Chasenet de Gery

Career Focus

An immigrant of Sierra Leone of French immigrant parents, Veronique came to the USA at an early age. Her experience spans several continents and age groups from newborns to senior citizens, and at every stage of family development. Veronique's focus is helping people in communities around the world develop themselves and thus help their whole community. She believes that this can be best achieved through collaboration and education with an emphasis on people teaching people. She also believes that in order to find solutions to problems, people's needs must be recognized and understood.

Motivation to work on Legacy Family Center's Board

"Legacy Family Center's mission and values speak to my own purpose in Llife. I am excited to be part of this organization to help communities develop and grow one another, taking ownership of their own rich cultural heritages to empower all families. From small seeds grow mighty oak trees and it is awe inspiring to be part of the 'family' which makes it happen."

Tonia Flowers

Career Focus

Tonia's whole focus has centered on helping families help themselves. She believes Her belief is that families are the backbone of society, but in order to be successful and fruitful, they need to be supported to help themselves and society as a whole. She owned a licensed childcare home for 11 years, Nite Care, which provided 24-hour care 7 days a week for children 6 weeks to 14 years old.

"There are many opportunities for families in Minnesota. I believe that families need to have capacity to help themselves and I am excited to be a part of the process that makes this available for children and their families." Legacy Family Center is committed to helping to support families as they learn to support themselves and develop self-agency."

Robin Perez

Board Member

Career Focus

Robin brings a wealth of experience mentoring and advising in the higher education arena. She has worked with diverse student populations ranging from middle school to doctoral programs, teaching, conducting workshops and serving as a mentor. Her career focus and passion are working with people in the identification, expansion and actualization of the their inner talent, passion and gifts that each person has. Robin's work has explored many facets of the academic gamut - from creating and facilitating workshops and undergraduate classes to mentoring and conducting outreach initiatives and advising students and staff. She has also traveled abroad for the University of Minnesota with outreach programs.

"Legacy Family Center is committed to working with individual from a community-based, empowering standpoint, and I am honored to be able to participate as part of the "village", nurturing and teaching/mentoring the next generation, helping prepare them to take the reins to move our global society forward into a positive future."
